| Becks fires another special against Everton | ||||||||||||||||||||||||

Another league match, another three points. That's the increasingly familiar outcome for Manchester United after they recorded their ninth win in their last 10 Premiership outings. Even at half pace Alex Ferguson's treble-chasers were far too good for Everton. United gave one of their worst first-half performances of the season at Old Trafford before they slipped up a couple of gears after the interval to take a Sunday afternoon stroll to victory with three goals in a 12-minute burst. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Gary Neville and David Beckham scored the goals before a Don Hutchison consolation strike. And an important win it was too for United because it re-opened their four-point lead at the top of the Premiership over Arsenal going into the two-week break for the Euro 2000 qualifiers.

UTD GO THROUGH 3-1 ON AGGREGATE Not even the brilliant Ronaldo could stop Manchester United reaching the last 4 of the European Cup for the second time in 3 years. A Nicola Ventola goal was cancelled out in the last couple of minutes by Paul Scholes to see United home and a meeting with the Old Lady of European footbal Juventus.

David Beckham will clock on at Old Trafford today - with his manager Alex Ferguson anxious to know why England kept a crock on for half an hour. | Manchester United's medical staff, assessing Beckham's chances of being fit for next week's Champions League semi-final against Juventus, may find the prospects dicey. And if the outlook is bleak, old sparring partners Kevin Keegan and Ferguson could be on another collision course. Beckham suffered a dead leg in his buttock when Polish defender Tomasz Lapinski accidentally landed on him in a pile-up by the corner flag at Wembley on Saturday. That happened in the opening seconds of the second half - yet Beckham soldiered on in discomfort until 13 minutes from time, when he was replaced by United team-mate Phil Neville. Ferguson will want to know why Beckham was not withdrawn earlier, especially as Keegan had another wide-right midfielder, Ray Parlour, warming up for nearly 25 minutes on the bench. United expect to learn in the next 48 hours the extent of Beckham's injury.
